Ananova - Belgian man charged with speeding at 1,154mph: "Belgian man charged with speeding at 1,154mph
A Belgian man was charged with speeding at 1,154mph in his Citroen car.
Diego Billardello said: 'Because I drive only a Citroen Picasso and not a rocket, I looked at the £100 fine and had a good laugh.'
Billardello, from Heusden-Zolder, told the judge the maximum speed of his car was only 110mph, reports Het Laatste Nieuws.
But the judge said he still had to pay the fine after looking at a picture which showed Billardello was driving at 40mph in a 30mph area.
A police spokesman said an officer had filled in the papers incorrectly: 'He mistakenly put the hour of the offence in the place where he should have filled in the velocity of the car,' he said.
